A 3rd generation West Texas cotton farmer, Cliff Etheredge founded WindWorks, LLC, a West Texas based early stage wind development company in 2006. Cliff organized over 400 landowners owning more than 100,000 acres near Roscoe, Texas into one of the first wind projects in the US entirely based on family owned farmland. Cliff presented the opportunity to investors and developers and less than a year later, brought in Irish based developer Airtricity to take on the Roscoe Wind Project.
To date, the first four phases of the Roscoe Wind Project, totaling over 640 Megawatts, have been completed and are in production. Now owned by German energy giant, E.On, the billion dollar Roscoe Wind Project will grow to 781.5 Megawatts and be the largest in the world upon its completion in 2009.
As a founding partner of Peak Wind, LLC, a joint venture of WindWorks, LLC and Venti Energy, Inc., Cliff brings his strong knowledge of the regional geography, his proven ability to earn the trust of and develop relationships with private landowners, and his wealth of industry and political contacts to Peak’s everyday operations.
Highly visible and well-known in the industry, Cliff has been featured in numerous wind energy trade magazine articles, has been interviewed for magazine, radio and television stories in the US, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Japan and the UK and was featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered” in a segment on Wind Energy. Cliff recently received the Texas Environmental Excellence Award from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for his work in Wind Energy and is a founding member of the Roscoe Wind Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching communities in which wind farms are put into production, and educating the general public on wind energy and its benefits.
